The following position(s) are currently available:

Article Writers (Once per quarter)

Free lance writers interested in contributing to the Minizine should send the following information via email to WSO:

Your name, contact information including main email and daytime telephone number, website address (as applicable) and topic of choice for your article.

Please include an example of your writing, no more than 150 words. Be sure to specify your preferred area of interest and availability to write.

Please be advised that all writer contributions are volunteer based and are not paid for their submissions.

Grant Writer (20 hours/year)

As a Grant Writer, you will be responsible to research, write, and coordinate various grant efforts for WSO. You will ensure accurate presentation of all letters of intent, grant applications and funder-related reports within deadlines. Develop submission timetables. Create and maintain database on written grants, and keep Directors informed of grant writing activities.

Requirements: Interested person(s) should have experience in communications, marketing and/or public relations. Also required is experience in grant writing as well as demonstrated open communication skills, positive interpersonal relationships, excellent written communication skills, and the ability to meet deadlines and be detail oriented.

Copy editor/proofreader (4 hours/month)

Spends about 4 hours a month copy editing the Minizine for corrections of all types - content, layout, etc. Submits them to layout editors to fix. Proofs take place twice per month. This position requires attention to detail, knowledge of grammar etc. If you do not already know AP style, a commitment to learn AP style is required. New copy editors must demonstrate knowledge of our site, our guidelines and our approach to news by passing a short test before starting.
